He subsequently completed his dental degree, graduating with honors, from the University of Melbourne. This was followed by Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial surgery training involving positions in major hospitals throughout Victoria and Tasmania, to successfully complete his Fellowship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
After a brief period as a Consultant surgeon in Melbourne, Joseph secured a position as a Clinical Fellow and travelled to the UK to complete 12 months at the Oxford University Hospitals.
